Good news everyone!
The latest InspIRCd for your enjoyment is out! We’re sorry about the delay in announcement but our site maintainer was busy with RL and all that boring stuff. On a positive note, yours truly is now also a maintainer of the site and thusly you can also spam me with any site related issues.
A detailed changelog since last release will be attached as always.

Inspircd released 2.0
Jul 7
Recently, the Linux version of UnrealIRCd was discovered to have had a Trojan worm its way into the source code. Even more embarrassing for the developers of Unreal is that the Trojan’s been holding open the backdoor in the source code since November of 2009– not very recently. And, of course, bloggers and press in general are taking the opportunity of another breach in Linux security to point out doomsday devices that don’t really exist.

Anope 1.8.4 – Release
Apr 5
We’re pleased to announce the latest release of the Anope stable branch; 1.8.4.
This release brings a list of fixes generally, and some further compatibility with InspIRCd 1.2.
As always we recommend you test the new version out in a testnet environment with your database and third party modules before considering upgrading.
We are in the process of also adding the functionality to our modules site (http://modules.anope.org/) to ‘mass’ build modules for Windows each time there is a new release from us which should hopefully help Windows’ users make decisions upon upgrading irrespective of whether the module author has produced a new dll for them.
I was surfing in WHT this morning and just found that InstaVPS just had another build of blade server with lowest price I have ever met.
Here is the blade server’s spec:
P3 800MHZ Blade Server
40GB Hard Drive
512MB RAM
100GB BW
1 IP
$14.99 / Month $0.00 / Setup
It’s good for low budge people and want to test their development software. Here is the link in WHT:
Inspircd 2.0 beta 2
Mar 19
Enough has been done on 2.0 that it’s probably a good idea to release another beta. There is now an unofficial feature freeze on 2.0, and hopefully the protocol won’t need any further tweaks. Linking with 1.2.x servers is still supported as it has been throughout the entire 2.0 line.
We need people to test 2.0, especially in a live environment. Since it can link to 1.2 servers, it’s possible to link a test server to an existing network and get real network traffic, while (hopefully) restricting any stability issues from the new code to the test server. Alternatively, contact us on IRC if you would like information on linking to the inspircd dev/QA testnet.
Are you looking for low cost blade server? I guess InstaVPS is a good place to consider. We just made an order of one blade server with at low cost starting from 20usd/month.
The server spec:
* 60 GB Disk Space
* 500 GB Bandwidth/ 2 IPs
* PM 1.0 GHZ
* 1 GB RAM
* Choice Of OS
* Free Setup
The port speed is 10Mbits (100Mbits is upgradable with 5usd/month extra). They also accept IRCD stuffs.
KhClub Network

Yes, this is just another Khmer IRC Network. They are running some UnrealIRCD servers with Anope IRC services and extra Statistic Denora. I have no comment for this Network yet.
Freely connect them with this address: irc.khclub.net
IRC statistic via web: http://khclub.net/phpdenora/
I have one VPS with DMEhosting for about almost a half year already. Recently, I just got an announcement that they allow IRC related stuffs in their unmanaged VPS. That’s great!
They have very cheap unmanaged linux vps plan which I never found any before. They named their unmanaged VPS to Budget VPS now. Here is the cheapest plan:
- Disk Space: 20GB
- Memory: 256MB
- Burst Memory: 386MB
- Bandwidth: 700GB
- Virtualization: OpenVZ
- IP Address(es): 1
Just $5.95/month
The setup is instant activation after the invoice is paid. You might also find they have 50% promotion in webhostingtalk. Nowadays, I use this budget VPS for backup and a tiny IRC node to my friend’s network.
Today, I just found one free shell on the net. Its name is Bshellz. You can get your linux account up instantly. They currently have two type of account – standard user and elite user. Simply visit their IRC channel in freenode (irc://#bshellz@irc.freenode.org), and type !register. I got my account created in less than 5mn.

Ever think about to run your own IRCD? I guess the irc addicted people might think to run by their own because they can be netadmin and set everything such as rules and network structure.
If you are really new to IRCD setup, I guess you would choose IRCD account instead of IRC-enabled VPS. From my experince, VPS is the better choice. Here are some of my opinion why VPS is better than IRCD account:
- You have root access
- You can install what application you want if it’s allowed in provider’s TOS
- You might be able to run as many process as you want, it depends on your VPS memory
- Setup your own webserver, mysql and other application you want bla bla.. even it has only 64MB RAM
If you could not find any cheap provider, I can give you a list that I ever had vps with them quite some time before:
- http://www.linode.com, i rate it 9/10 for performance, uptime and customer support
- http://www.minivds.com, i rate it 5/10 for performance and 6 for uptime and customer support
- http://www.hostinginside.com, i rate it 6/10 for performance, uptime and customer support
- http://www.rapidswitch.com, i rate it 8/10 for performance, uptime and customer support
Some VPS which you can run IRC things too are:
There are plenty much more in the internet. Just google it, you will find tons of it listed. You can also find some low price vps in: http://www.lowendbox.com/ but not all provider allow you to run IRC related stuff.
